Oh look, another week’s passed where Samuel hasn’t done a blog post! And so my new weekly post saves the day, with barely minutes left of the week. In what’s been quite an uneventful week in my life (apart from the fact that I saw – and loved – La La Land) these are songs that I’ve been replaying.
Julia Michaels – ‘Issues’
I’d be really surprised if this song wasn’t on every pop fan’s playlists this week. Julia is one of today’s best songwriters, most recently penning tracks such as Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry‘ and most of Selena Gomez’s ‘Revival‘ album. ‘Issues‘ is a great piece of pop and I am so excited to hear more material from Julia.
VÉRITÉ – ‘Somebody Else’
I’ve heard VÉRITÉ’s name be batted around for a few months now but haven’t ever sat down and listened to a track of hers until I stumbled across this on Spotify this week. A cover of The 1975’s ‘Somebody Else‘, it keeps the beauty of the original but also gives it a great new lease of life.
NAO – ‘Girlfriend’
I loved this song when it was originally released in 2016 but after NAO’s pleasantly surprising BRIT nomination was announced last week, I’ve been listening to her album ‘For All We Know‘ a lot and am still finding this single a real stand out.
Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone – ‘City Of Stars’
As I said at the top of this post, this week I saw and – like most of the world – fell in love with La La Land. I’m enjoying most of the movie’s soundtrack this week but ‘City of Stars‘ is a song that has really stuck with me.
Snakehips & MØ – ‘Don’t Leave’
It’s Snakehips and MØ, do I really need to explain why I’m loving this right now?
